We have been helping local businesses act responsibly and make a positive impact on their local communities for almost twenty years now. At the moment we have about 240 member companies. That number has been steadily increasing year on year as more and more companies realise that just saying they are committed to being socially responsible is not enough. They also realise that membership of Business in the Community is the most effective way of turning that commitment into action
The Civil Engineer Environment Quality Assesment and Awards Scheme was created for improving sustainability in civil engineering and public realm projects. It is being promoted by the ICE and a group of committed industry organisations such as CIRIA, CECA and ACE. Its objective is to encourage the attainment of environmental excellence in civil engineering, and thus to deliver improved environmental and social performance in project specification, design and construction.
The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) was formed at the request of Government in 1945 as the recognised body to represent the interests of the construction industry. It brought together county based Master Builders’ Associations that had existed since the 1860s. The CEF is the only certified employers organisation for the construction industry based in Northern Ireland. It has a membership of over 1300 companies of all sizes and across all sectors of the construction industry, from civil engineering to general construction, house building and repair and maintenance. 85% of our members are small and medium sized business, yet CEF members account for 75% of Northern Ireland’s total construction output.
CITB is a statutory Training Board with the purpose of encouraging the adequate training of those employed or intending to be employed in the construction industry in Northern Ireland.
