Geda invited all the local secondary schools in Monaghan for a tour around one of the Town's oldest building - Aviemore House. This was then followed up with a reception at the building for the local Council, design team, local historians and neighbours to have a look round.
Geda prepared some boards and papers to show the pupils and local people how the building would have looked through the ages since its construction in c1760. It is believed to have been built by James Hamilton as his town house, he was the local land agent. It has been used predominantly as a home but other uses include, a private school girls school, a doctors surgery and solicitors accommodation.
The challenges of restoring a listed building in such bad condition were also depicted and explained. for the pupils
Aviemore is a wonderful example of a 250 year old practically derelict building restored to its original glory. it enjoys the most prominent position in Monaghan Town and would make a fantastic location for any business. For enquires please contact us.
