Architect – Samuel Stevenson & Sons

M&E – ISD

Contract Value£2.3m
Contract DurationAugust 2010 – April 2011 (33 weeks)
Project Description

Re-cladding of the existing external façade, internal refurbishment (incl M&E installations), external paving, landscaping and associated works.

All adjacent buildings will remain operational throughout the course of the works, pedestrian traffic around the works will be safely accommodated.

The works will include the replacement of the external façade with timber curtain walling and rain screen cladding.  Concrete repairs and metal cladding to the underside of the link corridor.  The level of the existing Diamond Hall floor (18m x 36m) will be raised by 1m to provide level access. Replacement/refurbishment of internal wall and ceiling finishes along with internal doors and screens.  M&E installations will also be upgraded as part of the works with new installations tying in with existing systems.  The paved roof above the canteen and common areas is to be replaced with paver setts.  External works will include replacement of existing hard surfacing and drainage improvements.

The University Campus will remain operational during the extent of the works, our works compound is restricted and will necessitate a site traffic management plan to coordinate deliveries.  Management of pedestrian traffic in and around the site is of primary importance and a detailed Construction Phase H&S Plan has been devised.

As main contractor, Geda will identify and appoint a team of competent and quality assured sub contractors, including M&E sub contractors, to deliver the works.
