Waste water Treatment Works upgrade

Waste water Treatment Works upgrade, Castlecaulfield

Design and Build works involving the upgrade of the existing WwTW. The existing works require upgrading to achieve the required NIEA discharge standards. The completed works will significantly increase the quality of water discharged into the River Torrent.

Brief Description:

Works will include the construction of new inlet works (including CSO and flow control devices), inlet screening, grit and grease removal, primary settlement tanks. RBC Treatment Process, Final Settlement Tanks and Storm and Sludge Holding Tanks have also to be constructed.

Works also include a final effluent pumping station, ancillary pipework, MCC Structure, Standby Generator and associated site works.

Following commissioning on the new works redundant structures are decommissioned and demolished with concrete crushed and re-used on-site as fill material.                

NI Water and GEDA have developed a robust Environmental Management Plan to meet NIEA requirements for the contract which means that all possible measures will be undertaken to ensure that the construction work does not adversely impact on the adjacent River Torrent.

The site has been registered with the Considerate Constructor Scheme.
