| Brief Description: | The project involved 2 significant elements of work. Construction of a 7.0m deep pumping station with twin 1200mm diameter pumped out-fall pipes in the centre of Derry. Due to the ground conditions and the close proximity of neighbouring buildings a sheet-piled cofferdam 25m x 20m in plan was required to construct the pumping station. |
The twin 1200mm diameter outfalls crossed a major dual carriageway in the centre of Derry at the location of a roundabout. Through close liaison with all stakeholders, including DRD Road Service, and a comprehensive traffic management plan this was achieved 4 weeks ahead of programme. | |
| The existing pumping station and CSO had to be kept operational during construction requiring phasing of the works and close co-operation with NI Water. | |
Geda acted as ‘Lead Contractor’ and Project Manager on the scheme and as such, co-ordinated all design and construction activities which given our experience, ensured early completion of the contract and a value engineered solution. |
